about   AI
AI images are visual representations generated by artificial intelligence (AI). These images are created through machine learning, particularly techniques such as deep learning, where neural networks are trained on large amounts of visual data to create or manipulate images.
Here are the key aspects that set AI images apart:
1. Generative models
AI images are often created using Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) or other generative models. These models learn the structures and patterns of image data and use them to create new, often realistic-looking images.
GANs consist of two parts: a generator that generates new images and a discriminator that decides whether the image is realistic or not. They work against each other to constantly improve the quality of the generated images.
2. Training on image datasets
AI models are trained on huge image datasets containing millions of photos or drawings. This data allows the model to understand and apply complex patterns such as colors, shapes, textures, and shadows.
Training typically covers a variety of topics, from landscapes to architecture to people or abstract concepts.
3. Creative and practical applications
Art and design: Many artists and designers use AI to create new works of art. AI can create completely new, abstract or surreal images that inspire people or raise questions about the role of creativity.
Image editing: AI images are also used to enhance, restore or convert existing photos into new styles (e.g. “style transfer”).
Films and video games: Here, AI is used to create photorealistic or imaginative worlds that would be difficult or time-consuming to create using classic animation technology.
4. Use of text-to-image models
Modern AI systems such as DALL·E or MidJourney use text-to-image models, where users enter descriptions or instructions and the AI converts them into visual representations. This enables people without artistic skills to create detailed and personalized images.
The process relies on a deep understanding of the relationship between language and visual concepts.
5. Quality and Limitations
The quality of AI images can vary from impressively realistic to oddly distorted, depending on how well the model has been trained and how specific the instructions or inputs are.
Despite their capabilities, AI models sometimes struggle with fine details, perspectives, or semantic relationships. For example, they might distort objects or “ignore” the laws of physics.
6. Ethics and Copyright
The use of AI to create images also raises ethical questions, particularly when AI models are trained on copyrighted data or when the work of artists is imitated.
There are ongoing debates about the role of humans in art and whether AI should be considered a tool or a creator in its own right.
In summary, AI images are computer-generated artwork or visual content created by artificial intelligence that has a variety of creative, scientific, and practical applications. They provide a fascinating intersection between technology and creativity.

"Sunset of the Soul" This image shows a woman holding a glass of water reflecting the sunset. The woman's face is blurred and placed behind the glass, drawing the focus to the glass and the sun captured in it. The clear reflection of the sunset in the water could be symbolic of inner peace, self-reflection, or contemplation of one's own feelings.

The glass could serve as a medium through which the woman sees the world - perhaps symbolizing the way we perceive our own inner light or thoughts. The sun reflected in the water could represent the woman's inner strength or soul shining through the "filter" of the glass. The sunset itself often symbolizes the closing of a chapter, inner contemplation, or the transition from one phase to the next.

It is a meditative moment that blurs the line between the outer world (the sunset) and the inner world (the reflection of the soul), pointing to the fragility of the human being in this contemplation.

in memoriam Professor Luigi Colani
( * 1928 - † 2019 )
Godfather of designers, Grand Maestro and Mentor

Colani was known for his aerodynamic, biomorphic forms for cars, airplanes and many other everyday objects. He referred to his organic design language as biodesign and defined this as a "humanization of the interface between man and machine" through "ergonomics and knowledge of the latest materials". The universal claim of his 3D philosophy led to a corresponding optimization of almost all designable objects. Some colleagues and journalists sometimes judged Colani's designs to be "far ahead of their time". Luigi Colani was also a respected designer in Japan and China.
